Varig Orkla Arena has a new lighting system with lighting control from Datek Light Control.
The track of 1100 meters is the longest in the country, and with atrack width of 20-24 meters, there is obviously a need for a lot of light. Thetrack profile itself consists of an inner track, a running track and an outertrack. The track's profile emphasizes a long run and good turns to really bringout the best in the horses.
The facility will also be used for far more than a trotting track, including exhibitions, fairs and concerts. It was therefore important to think about flexibility in the facility, so that the brightness can be controlled according to wishes and needs.
In order to optimize light levels according to needs and actual use, all outdoor lighting is equipped with wireless control and monitoring. DALI-2drivers ensure that the lighting is dimmed all the way down to 10% without flicker, or even lower, according to the users' needs.
The communication unit in each pole and/or luminaire has an integrated GPS to simplify the commissioning of systems so that all light points end up directly on the map. The devices communicate both with each other and with the cloud so that the system is easily accessible to users and that there are opportunities for adjustments according to their needs. The solution also simplifies later operation and maintenance, for example by replacing drivers.
It is our partner THORN has delivered flood lights from the Altis series to the arena. The floodlights meet the technical requirements, are energy-efficient and will last for many years to come.
The system will contribute to an increased sense of safety and securitywhen there is activity in the area, as well as make the area attractive also inthe evenings. This also applies to the luminaires on access roads, walkways and the parking lot.

In all solutions from Datek Light Control for Sports Events A set of rules is set up. This determines when there should be light on the track. During the period when there is activity and light on the facility, you can easily adjust the light to, for example, 50% via DLC Active, an app on your mobile phone.
If there are conditions that require more light, such as trotting races, the brightness can be turned up to 100% to ensure a safe and good activity on the facility. If there is only a need for a little light during maintenance, for example, you can turn down to 20% to make sure that you do not engage in unnecessary light pollution.
In the app, it is easy for the course manager to add/remove others who need access to lighting control.
