The City of Oslo creates safe and nice areas for residents, tourists and others who travel in the urban space by lighting up facades.

Lighting facades is becoming an increasingly important role in line with the development towards car-free city centres. When cars disappear from the city centre, as we see in the areas around Oslo City Hall, new spaces are created where people can move freely on foot. This changes the cityscape and slows down the pace, while at the same time opening up completely different experiences of the urban space. Good and well-thought-out façade lighting therefore becomes a key tool for creating safety, well-being and identity in the city.
When buildings are illuminated in a way that highlights the architecture and adds warmth to the surroundings, people are invited to stay and explore the city both during the day and at night. Light can help to enhance the city's character, create a sense of security and give residents a sense of alive – even after the sun has set.
At Oslo City Hall, all groups are controlled with spotlights with wireless nodes (37 pcs.) that are controlled from 2 pcs. Datek Light Control Gateway via a radio network. The radio network is a mesh network that is radio-planned toget the best radio connection from each node and up to the gateway. All flood lights have control inputs of the DALI type, and many of the nodes drive several floodlights that are connected together on a DALI bus.
During the commissioning of the plant, the light level was adjusted by lighting consultants in collaboration with Datek and a plan was made with the levels that were reached. This plan became the template for ignition and extinguishing to the plant.
We offer solutions that make it easy for our customers, such as theCity of Oslo, to mark important events and events. When the municipality wanted to participate in Earth Hour in March by turning off the façade lighting for one hour, this could be controlled seamlessly through our digital platform. After the celebration, the lights were turned on again – see the video below from Oslo City Hall.
Our lighting control system for outdoor lighting is designed to optimize energy use, streamline operation and maintenance, and minimize unwanted light pollution.
Our system is built on modern components and software technology for the "Internet of Things" (IoT). This allows our customers to integrate the solution together with other information technology.
We offer a cloud service that operates the system, user interfaces on the web and smart, robust control units.
