Gjelleråsen IF replaced the old conventional lighting system with a new LED system on Li artificial turf.
In 2019, Gjelleråsen won the Green Kick-off competition, which was a collaboration between Datek Light Control, Smart Elektro and Luxia. Here, Luxia gave away a complete lighting system to Gjelleråsen Idrettsforening at Li. Smart Elektro was responsible for the installation and Datek contributed with the control of the lighting system. Due to both corona and a landslide up at Li, the project was postponed several times, but could finally be handed over to Gjelleråsen IF in 2021 by Raymond Johansen, general manager.
Gjelleråsen won the facility when they described a great need to upgrade the lighting system they had. Both because they have senior teams that play in the PostNord league and have a requirement for floodlights, but also because they saw that they needed a new lighting system to be able to provide children and young people with safe and good conditions to be able to engage inactivity at the facility.
The new facility provides much better light, uses much lessenergy and is set up in a way that means that light pollution is minimal. Youno longer light up the entire neighborhood, but only the lane that will be usedfor activity.
A key part of this is the control solution from Datek LightControl. Datek controls the lighting at about 500 sports facilities across the country, everything from top sports facilities to ball pens and community facilities. Common to all these facilities is the desire to be able to easily control and control the light, and to be able to safely delegate the possibility of being able to make changes if necessary. With Datek's PitchManagement, coaches and team leaders have the opportunity to put on more light if needed, control parts or the entire facility and ensure that there is a safe and good environment for the activity, without it being at the expense of light pollution or that the facility is lit around the clock.
Datek Pitch Management delivers an overarching set of rules that ensure that the facility's lighting is controlled according to fixed principles. A good example is the rule that there should never be lights on the facility after 10:30 p.m. This prevents lights from being left on by mistake, or from someone turning it on at night. In the event of delays, for example during matches on Li artificial turf, there are flexible solutions in the app that make it possible to extend the light so that the match can be completed without the facility automatically being blacked out.
Another important advantage of Datek Track Control is that thesystem controls each individual luminaire in the masts around the track. Thisprovides full flexibility: you can easily dim the light and reduce the brightness if needed, or only illuminate parts of the track if it is sufficient. This contributes to both reduced energy consumption and less light pollution.
Gjelleråsen IL has implemented the solution so that you can choose to illuminate only half of the pitch, or use lower light levels when, for example, maintenance, snow removal or preparation for events and cups.
"The lighting system at Li turned out even better than we had hoped for! We have full control of the control of the light via the mobile app, and we see with the new system that we save money by not always having the light on full blast. With the new facility, we also believe that we can better take into account the local environment around us, as the light pollution is much less than before due to the possibility of adjusting brightness based on weather and conditions. The light also provides better training conditions for young and old, as it illuminates the pitch on a completely different level than it did before - in sum, we are all super happy! "
