The sports facility at Skullerudstua in Oslo municipality is for the benefit of both Rustad IL and the municipality's residents. In the winter, it is used as a ski resort, during the rest of the year it is a popular hiking and training area. White snow reflects the light in a completely different way than a forest road without snow. Therefore, there are completely different requirements for light intensity in the different seasons.

A light meter sensor has been placed on the system that detects when itis so dark/bright that the system should be turned on and off. The light metersends a signal to the administration and control system, which relays thecorrect light levels to the luminaires. The basic lighting is set by the Cityof Oslo and Rustad IL.
The luminaires always turn on at 70% of the total power and dim down to10% at night during the winter months. This results in a low energy andmaintenance requirement that ensures low operating costs. The luminaires areconnected to our central server in the cloud, and report on light level, powerdraw, temperature and of course any faults with the light source.
The lighting control system can easily be programmed to the desiredlight levels for the different parts of the system. In the finish area and outon the route with long downhills and tight turns, the light intensity in theluminaires can be increased, while routes with long and open stretches can bedimmed.
Coaches and leaders in Rustad IL have access to control the light with mobile devices, PCs or tablets.
It is especially important to pay attention to the use of light out in nature. In the forest there is a rich wildlife, and we must limit light pollution so that fish and other animals do not have their natural life and circadian cycle destroyed. When traveling in the forest, many people want toget close to nature and have nice experiences. Many people seek out to look at the starry sky and therefore this is another consideration that must be taken into account when operating a lighting system in the forest. With our solution, you get the flexibility to take the consideration required.
Energy-efficient LED luminaires alone cannot meet the variousrequirements of such a facility. Therefore, it was decided early in the project to install state-of-the-art luminaires from Thorn Lighting and Osram, delivered with Datek control nodes fully integrated.
Datek Light Control's control nodes have a built-in GPS module. WithGPS built into the luminaires, the installation work and logistics were great simplified for the electrical contractor in this project. As the luminaires were installed and supplied with power, they automatically"positioned" themselves into the map and management system of Datek Light Control - a true "Plug & Play" installation.
