Smart lighting along the E6

In October 2019, the stretch between Kolomoen and Kåterud opened, a distance of 12km. Nye Veier is responsible for the development and we have supplied technology for lighting control of the total of 398 road lighting luminaires and associated 6 lighting panels.

The technology from Datek allows for continuous communication with each of the almost 400 luminaires via radio communication based on Zigbee Mesh technology.

Traffic safety in focus

Each individual road lighting luminaire can be controlled and individuallyadapted for lighting levels based on seasons and local conditions such asweather and traffic volume. This not only leads to better road safety for thosewho travel on the road, but also has the potential for significant savings onpower consumption and associated environmental footprint. In addition, thesystem solution has greatpotential for optimized operation and maintenance for those who operate theroad after opening.

With a full overview in a Web interface with map service directly from a PC or mobile phone, the lighting system can be controlled manually, e.g. in the event of accidents, and maintenance can be planned from the office desk based on real-time information and stored historical data.
