For many years, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has used our solution in several of its projects. Everything from the smallest cycle path to county roads and the E6. The facility between Drøbak and Ås in Akershus is both climate-friendly, energy-efficient and provides better traffic safety.

The traffic density on most roads varies significantly throughout the day. At night, when traffic is low, the light levels can therefore be significantly reduced. With Datek Light Control's solution, the customer can control when the lights should be dimmed, as the control nodes are connected to a server in the cloud. This ensures continuous communication between the nodes and the cloud, and provides flexible and efficient lighting control.
In Trolldalen, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has chosen the following profile:
kl.09.00 pm - 90 %
kl.10.00 pm - 80 %
kl.11.00 pm - 70 %
From midnight and the rest of the night - 50 %
The profiles can be changed dynamically throughout the week and seasons, and of course adjusted if the traffic situation should change. Changing dimming profiles requires no effort out in the field, but can easily be changed from a PC or mobile.
Since the control nodes and the cloud communicate a tall times, you have a good overview of any faults and can plan maintenance when needed.
There is an approved electricity meter in each individual luminaire, and the user can retrieve a detailed overview of energy consumption. This is important for optimizing the energy use of the entire facility. Our solution provides exact values and you can easily test how different dimming profiles affect energy consumption.
Data from the system in week 47 2017 showed that the Norwegian PublicRoads Administration achieved an 18% reduction in energy consumption at the plant in Trolldalen. With full power on all 61 luminaires, the plant would consume 899 Kwh. With the dimming profile in use, the result was 735 Kwh in total.

The project has 61 modern LED luminaires that are delivered from the luminaire manufacturer AEC in Italy. Datek LightControl's control nodes are internally assembled from the factory. With a nominal power of 120 W, these are luminaires that can deliver light levels according to the requirements of this type of road and traffic pattern.
With the solution in Trolldalen, theNorwegian Public Roads Administration has achieved the goals of reduced greenhouse gas emissions and energy savings.
