The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, part of the Dartford Crossing, carries over 130,000 vehicles across the River Thames every day. Opened in 1991, the 800-metre-long cable-stayed bridge is equipped with a modern, energy-efficient lighting control system from Datek.

The bridge is illuminated by 232 light fixtures supplied by CU Phosco. Datek's partner in England, Charles Endirect, together with Connect Plus, has delivered intelligent control of these light fixtures and ensures that there is the right light in the right place at the right time at all times - this contributes to a safe traffic flow over the bridge. With the help of , the customer can control each individual light fixture. Settings can be defined for when the lights should be on and off, what brightness should apply and whether it should be dimmed down or up.
In addition, this helps to reduce energy consumption on the bridge, and ensures that lights are not turned on at times of the day when they are not needed. This both reduces energy consumption and also saves the customer large costs.
All 232 light fixtures are equipped with radio nodes that communicate with 3 gateways, which in turn communicate with Datek's platform. The technology supplied by Charles Endirect is the same technology that is used on many roads and bridges in Norway as well. The actual equipment that is installed in each light fixture is a third-generation lighting control unit, which in turn is linked to Datek's cloud-based control solution.
In this way, the customer can keep track of faults and be notified if any of the luminaires are not working properly. Troubleshooting, and in many cases, error correction can be done remotely and the customer does not have togo out every time to check faults. This helps to streamline work processes and ensure that our customers can provide good services to their customers even better.
